Advent meditations

Earnest

An intense or serious state of mind

I couldn’t think of a darn thing to write about, for today’s Advent word, earnest.

“Night and day we pray most earnestly,” Paul wrote to the Thessalonians, “that we may see you face to face and restore whatever is lacking in your faith.”

It must have been hard, in those early days of the new church, to keep converts strong in their faith. They needed a lot of encouragement.

But then again, don’t we all need encouragement, to keep fighting for our dreams?

If you’re wondering why I chose this photo to illustrate my article: I typed in the word earnest into the search engine and…this little cutie was one of three photos.

I guess I’ll call him Ernest. He certainly looks the part!
